Job summary

Transdev North America is seeking an experienced Lead Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet that includes pickup trucks and class 8 trucks and trailers. You will lead a team of technicians, ensure safety and efficiency, and uphold high maintenance standards across our fleet.

The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, accurate record-keeping, and timely service delivery. A Class A CDL endorsement, ASE certification, and a DOT-compliant background are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred)
  • Class A CDL with air brake endorsement (preferred)
  • ASE Certification preferred; state inspection license (if required)

Job description

Now Hiring for Optima, OK! Transdev in Optima, OK is seeking an experienced Technician to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various vehicles and equipment which will primarily be pickup trucks, class 8 trucks and trailer. As a Lead Technician, you'll play a crucial role in making repairs as well as guiding and leading our other technicians to ensure the safety, efficiency, and longevity for our customers vehicles.

  • Competitive compensation package of minimum $30.00 – Maximum $40.00 / hr
  • Sign On Bonus -$1,500.00

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers by performing limited repairs with moderate supervision on basic and advanced maintenance such as replacement of light bulbs, fuses, lenses, wiper blades, belts, hoses, batteries, check fluid levels, change fluids and filters and lubricate components.
  • Perform mechanical repairs under moderate supervision including the repair of brakes and brake inspections, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches, internal engine components and other repairs.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles including parts and supplies used. Ensure that work orders are completed properly and accurately. Maintain parts usage records and order repair parts from designated suppliers.
  • Preventative maintenance (PM’s), safety maintenance inspections and annual maintenance inspections at prescribed intervals of time and usage.
  • Remove and replace and repair engine, transmission and differential assemblies.
  • Diagnoses and performs accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair.
  • Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
  • Evaluates completed work prior to release and seeks approval where required.
  • Evaluates completed work of others prior to release.
  • Lead and train the other technicians in your work group.
  • Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary.
  • Adhere to Transdev standards, policies and procedures.
  • Moves vehicles safely between job and work area.
  • Repair and maintain all shop equipment.
  • Cleans vehicles as requested or required.
  • Other responsibility as requested or required.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred)
  • Class A CDL with air brake endorsement (preferred)
  • State inspection license (if required)
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • Extensive mechanical aptitude and 5 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience.
  • Adhere to standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain an organized shop and clean work environment.
  • Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers.
  • Possess adequate mechanic tool inventory to complete all assigned duties and maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
  • The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • Push and pull objects, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
