Job summary

Countryside YMCA’s Children’s Center in Lebanon, OH is seeking an experienced Lead Teacher to guide a classroom and mentor fellow staff. You will own the classroom's success while aligning with Ohio Preschool Content Standards and related program guidelines.

Responsibilities include planning activities, managing documentation, supporting children’s growth, and maintaining open communication with families. The role requires leadership, initiative, and a commitment to safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• Strong communication with parents, coworkers, and children.
• Patience and understanding in working with children and families.
• Deep knowledge of childcare principles, procedures, and early childhood teaching strategies.
• Ability to build a warm, enjoyable classroom atmosphere.
• Comfort taking initiative and ownership of classroom operations.

Responsibilities

• Own overall classroom operations—planning developmentally appropriate activities and supervising children throughout the day.
• Manage Step Up to Quality documentation, staff interviews, and credentialing requirements.
• Attend to children's daily needs, including dressing, feeding, and monitoring activities and playtime.
• Support children's emotional, social, and physical growth and positive self-concept.
• Identify signs of developmental or emotional concerns and communicate with parents or guardians.
