Job summary

Plans and directs daily programs for children in their assigned group. Consistently provides developmentally appropriate and child centered activities that meet the physical, emotional, intellectual needs of the children. Functions as a team leader and role model working with assistants and volunteers in the classroom.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Interacts positively with children at all times.
  2. Plans, implements, and evaluates daily activities for children in their assigned group. Plans are submitted to Manager according to departmental policy.
  3. Creates and maintains a physical environment that promotes positive development.
  4. Responsible for supervision and constructive utilization of Teacher II.
  5. Keeps appropriate records.
  6. Maintains health and safety of children and environment.
  7. Participates in ongoing professional development.
  8. Responds in a professional manner to all situations.

REQUIRED:

  1. Associate's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood, or related field.
  2. One (1) year teaching experience in Early Childhood setting similar to responsibilities.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of child development/management techniques, appropriate activities for preschool/school age children, and related care regulations.
  4. Must be energetic, with an interest in and enjoyment of children.
  5. One (1) year of supervisory experience.
  6. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

PREFERRED:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field.
  2. Certification in CPR, First Aid, and other GA state health and safety requirements.
