East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking a Lead Teacher to join our team and provide a nurturing and safe classroom environment for children in the Head Start program at Turner Avenue Center, East Providence, RI. Due to the critical nature of this position to provide services to the children, EBCAP is offering a two-step sign-on bonus totaling $2500 for external applicants.
The Head Start Teacher will oversee daily classroom functioning and guide the Teacher Associate, Teacher Assistant, per diem Substitutes, and Volunteers, utilizing Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, Rhode Island Child Day Care Center Regulations for Licensing, and RI Early Learning and Development Standards. Our Head Start program employs approaches from Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS), The Incredible Years (IY), Classroom Behavioral Management System, and the Creative Curriculum to ensure high-quality, nurturing, and safe learning experiences. Responsibilities include planning and implementing learning experiences that promote children’s intellectual and physical development, social competence, and parental involvement.
The successful candidate must have excellent presentation skills, strong leadership, and management abilities to communicate effectively with staff, parents, children, and colleagues.
The Lead Teacher must possess one of the following qualifications:
*Related degrees, as defined by Rhode Island’s Bright Stars program, include Human Development, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Education, Pediatric Nursing, Home Economics/Family & Consumer Science, Physical Education & Recreation, and Child & Family Studies. RIDE-certified candidates with a related degree must meet RI Early Learning Standards Teacher Qualifications, including a minimum of 24 credit hours in ECE coursework. Candidates with a related degree must have completed at least 18 credit hours of coursework in areas such as child development, early childhood education and curriculum, assessment, psychology, family development, health, physical development, mathematics, science, children’s literature, approaches to learning, social and emotional development, language development, creativity, professionalism, and differentiated teaching.
