Description
Summary:Join our innovative in-school childcare model, in partnership with the Harrisburg School District, reflecting our mission to empower families and strengthen communities through a flexible, family-first approach. This unique program offers collaborative, real-world learning for students, adult learners, and children with the support of our industry professionals while providing high-quality childcare for Harrisburg District Staff. The Lead Teacher is responsible for educating children, about fundamental concepts such as social and emotional skills, and more as per developmental assessment. The Lead Teacher will guide assistant teachers, plan curriculum, and participate in parent communication.
Hours:Hours vary between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Full-time and part-time positions are available during our operating months of August through May. Summer employment opportunities are available at our other locations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Ensure EmBe brand, mission, vision, and values that are reflected in all interactions
- Demonstrate and reinforce professionalism, appropriate language, take responsibility for actions, and mentor positive behaviors to all throughout the center
- Plan and implement a curriculum geared towards kindergarten readiness and daily activities
- Submit weekly lesson plans covering all areas of growth and development to the curriculum coordinator
- Provide opportunity and support to teach children to develop self-regulation, emotional, and support skills
- Assess a child’s development with age-appropriate milestones
- Create a stimulating learning environment, including room arrangements, bulletin boards, seasonal decorations, etc.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and clean learning environment inside and outside of the classroom
- Accurately provide essential documentation such as meal sheets, daily sheets, accident reports, medication sheets, as well as communicate parent information daily via procare and in person
- Participate in recommended professional development training and adhere to licensing standards
- Maintain appropriate staff to child ratio, consult with the site manager when substitutes are needed, or children should be moved to other classrooms
- Engage in parent communication such as:
- Warmly greet each parent and child upon arrival and departure to each classroom
- Engage families in child’s well-being and daily activities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of each child along with treating all with dignity and respect
- Remain up to date on mandatory training hours
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- CDA or willingness to complete, associates, or bachelor’s degree in early childhood preferred
- Must show problem-solving, initiative, and independence skills
- Previous experience working in childcare preferred
- General knowledge of children’s growth and development.
- No substantiated history of child abuse of neglect
- No history of a felony conviction on record within the past five years.
- No staff members name will appear on the sex offender’s registry
Physical Demands:
- Ability to see, speak, and hear
- Frequent standing and walking
- Frequent use of hands and arms
- Occasional lifting of 20 to 40 lbs.
- Occasional need to climb, balance, kneel or crouch
Work Exposure:
- Work is primarily performed in an indoor classroom environment. Occasional outdoor exposure when weather permits.
- Noise level is moderate to loud due to equipment and children.
- Routine exposure to household sanitization and cleaning chemicals
