About This Role

Busy Bee Preschool is looking for a strong, dependable Assistant Teacher to join our team! (lead position may be considered)

We are looking for someone who brings more than a love for children. We need an experienced early childhood professional who understands how to actively manage a classroom, support a lead teacher, engage with children, and recognize what needs to be done without always waiting to be asked.

Our ideal candidate:

• Has at least 1 full year of experience working in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
• Has strong classroom management skills and can confidently redirect and guide children
• Is actively engaged with children throughout the day—not standing on the sidelines
• Can read the room and adjust when an activity, transition, or approach isn't working
• Takes initiative and sees what needs to be done
• Is flexible and able to move between classrooms or adjust to the needs of the day
• Communicates professionally with co-workers, families, and administration
• Works well as part of a team and is comfortable receiving feedback and coaching
• Is dependable, positive, and professional
• Understands that maintaining a safe, organized, engaging classroom is everyone's responsibility

What You'll Do

Classroom Management & Child Engagement

• Actively supervise children at all times
• Engage with children through play, conversation, learning activities, reading, music, and movement.
• Help maintain a calm, positive, well-managed classroom.
• Redirect challenging behaviors using appropriate positive guidance techniques.
• Recognize when children are becoming overstimulated, disengaged, or dysregulated and adjust accordingly.
• Help children successfully navigate transitions throughout the day.
• Maintain consistent classroom expectations and routines.

Daily Care & Safety

• Assist with diapering, toileting, handwashing, meals, snacks, nap, and other daily-care routines.
• Follow all sanitation, disinfecting, and health procedures.
• Maintain required child-to-staff ratios.
• Complete required attendance/count procedures.
• Follow licensing regulations and Busy Bee safety policies.
• Immediately report injuries, safety concerns, unusual incidents, or concerning behaviors.

Classroom Environment

• Keep the classroom clean, organized, inviting, and ready for children.
• Clean and sanitize toys, tables, learning materials, and classroom areas as required.
• Reset learning centers and rotate materials as directed.
• Help children participate in age-appropriate cleanup
• Notice what needs attention and take initiative.

Professional Expectations

• Arrive on time and ready to work.
• Maintain professional communication with children, families, coworkers, and administration.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
• Avoid gossip and workplace drama.
• Accept coaching and feedback professionally and make requested changes.
