Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking an early childhood educator to design age-appropriate curriculum, implement engaging activities, and supervise assistants, students, and volunteers to maintain a safe learning environment.

You will monitor children's progress, communicate with families about development and behavior, and collaborate with colleagues to foster a nurturing classroom that supports growth and resilience in young learners.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate’s Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education preferred.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

• Develops age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children.
• Monitors and supervises children to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Communicates effectively with parents regarding children’s progress and behavior.
• Implements positive discipline techniques to encourage good behavior.
• Observes and assesses children’s development and growth.
• Collaborates with other teachers and staff to create a nurturing learning environment.

Education Requirement:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Associate’s Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, preferred.

Certifications:

• Active Child Development Associate (CDA) certification within one year of hire, preferred.
• 24 annual hours of Ohio-Approved Professional Development tracked by department, unless Associate’s Degree or CDA certification is maintained, required.

Skills:

• Effective communication skills to interact with children, families, and other professionals.
• Ability to supervise and direct Assistant Teachers and students.
• Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and change priorities.
• Ability to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom.

Experience:

Experience in an early childhood education program, preferred.
