Job summary

Capital Power in Phoenix is seeking a Lead, Taxation (US) to manage tax compliance, planning and analysis for the US entity. The role reports to the Senior Lead, Taxation and focuses on complex tax provisions, compliance deadlines, audits, and strategic tax initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Business/Finance/Accounting, a Master of Taxation, CPA designation, and at least 5 years in finance/accounting with 3+ years in tax. Hybrid work is available in the Phoenix office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • Master of Taxation Degree or equivalent.
  • CPA Professional Accounting Designation.
  • Minimum 5 years post‑graduate finance/accounting with at least 3+ years tax experience.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and reviewing US tax compliance, including deadlines, payments, reorganizations, elections, and new tax legislation.
  • Preparing and reviewing complex US tax provisions and tax note disclosures for entities.
  • Assisting with US business development analysis and tax impact of acquisitions or divestitures.
  • Reviewing US sales and use tax compliance.
  • Assisting with US taxation audits as needed.
  • Preparing US long‑term planning, budgeting and forecasting.

Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position

Reporting to the Senior Lead, Taxation, the Lead, Taxation (US) 's role will include the preparation and review of tax compliance, provisions, installment estimates, tax authority audit responses; and assist with business development opportunities, tax planning and analysis, tax research, tax forecasting, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing and reviewing US tax compliance. Includes management of compliance deadlines, payments, reorganizations, research, elections, etc. and managing the implementation and compliance to new US tax legislation
  • Preparing and reviewing complex US tax provisions and tax note disclosures for legal entities.
  • Assisting with US business development analysis (tax impact of potential acquisitions or divestitures, integration, tax incentives, etc.)
  • Reviewing US sales and use compliance
  • Assisting with US taxation audits where necessary.
  • Preparing US long term planning and budget and forecasting.
  • Assisting with intercompany and cross border transactions, including transfer pricing, management fees, etc.
  • Adhering to SOX requirements
What you bring to the role
Education & Experience
  • Degree or Diploma in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Master of Taxation Degree
  • CPA Professional Accounting Designation
  • Minimum 5 years of post-graduation finance/accounting experience with at least 3+ years tax experience in a relevant tax position.
Technical Skills
  • US public company tax experience, including experience reviewing tax returns and provisions
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and related controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with financial systems, reporting tools, and accounting technology
Working Conditions
  • Position allows for hybrid work schedule
  • Location: Phoenix office
