  • Experience with plant-level financial analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to finance and supply chain policies.
  • Track and develop site financial data for monthly/annual reporting.
  • Support budget development and admin budget preparation.
  • Manage procurement, invoicing, and cost controls.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and expense reconciliation.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting and POs.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and contracts oversight.
  • Ensure accurate account coding and financial variances reporting.

Your Opportunity

One Permanent Full Time Position. Are you ready to take on an exceptional and rewarding administrative role? As a Business Manager at Capital Power, you will be at the heart of our operations, working cross-functionally to drive our financial and administrative success. This is an outstanding opportunity to be a key player in a fast-paced environment that values learning and career growth. As the Business Manager, you will be accountable to the Plant Manager and provide outstanding administrative services.

Responsibilities
  • Adhering to corporate practices and policies relating to finance, and supply chain.
  • Tracking and developing site financial data for submission to corporate finance in support of monthly and annual finance reporting activities, PPA related production invoices, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Supporting the development of the Annual O&M Budget, with accountability for the preparation of the Admin budget using comparisons from previous spending and forecasts.
  • Understanding the chart of accounts and ensuring transactions are booked against the appropriate account and cost codes.
  • Tracking and assisting with forecasting budget spending and reviewing it with other managers at the plant.
  • Assisting with outage cost tracking and reporting variances, as needed.
  • Managing corporate travel arrangements and expense reconciliation, as required.
  • Managing monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting including accrual entries, actual versus budget variance reports, and reviewing open purchase orders and work orders.
  • Advising managers to ensure expenses are allocated accurately.
  • Determining sales and using tax that is due monthly.
  • Establishing and maintaining supplier relationships for all administration related activities.
  • Working with Commercial and Management Team to build and manage the Budget, development and guide budget adherence discussions.
  • Assisting with tracking and communication of critical metrics as directed by the Plant Manager.
  • Managing office contracts, processes, and document control while making full use of corporate resources.
  • Supporting procurement of outage facilities and logistics planning and site layout (ex: office trailers, security, cleaning, toilet trailers, verifying contractor orientations, etc.).
  • Generating, issuing, and amending purchase orders.
  • Reviewing requests for changes to contracts and discussing risks with Supply Chain Services.
  • Ensuring inventory counts and balancing physical/system balances, reporting material variances.
  • Working closely with vendors to ensure compliance with Capital Power standards.
  • Requesting and reviewing all Certificates of Insurance to ensure they meet the Capital Power standards, work closely with vendors to resolve any issues.
  • Supporting and aiding with coordination of training and ensuring that training records are maintained, as required.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with internal cross-functional groups, such as, Supply Chain, Finance, HSE.
  • Serving as the first point of contact and response for site worker and corporate inquiries relating to finance, supply chain, and training.
What you will bring to the role
  • Education: Completed High School Diploma or Completed Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Business preferred. Education equivalency may be considered.
  • Experience and Skills: 3+ years’ experience in a related industry and/or role.
  • Strong office software skills.
  • Proven ability to track and organize documents both hard copies and digital.
  • Intermediate ability to perform plant level financial analysis.
  • Strong capability to track and monitor plant finances.
  • Proven ability to maintain and develop vendor relationships.
  • Working Conditions: Plant based role with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.
Additional Details
  • The pay range for this position is Total Base Pay Range $64,200.00 - $96,400.00 USD. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior relevant experience.
  • This position is eligible for health care benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off, and annual bonus.
  • As this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre‑employment drug test is required, subject to applicable law.
  • In order to be considered for this role you must be legally eligible to work in United States of America.
