Job summary

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions seeks a Systems Engineering Lead for advanced turbomachinery and power systems programs. You will translate customer needs into verifiable requirements and guide cross-functional teams from concept through qualification and field support.

You will drive risk management, system architecture, and interface control while leading design reviews and ensuring safety, reliability, and performance across the hardware lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of turbine engine and turbomachinery design and how requirements interact across aerodynamics, structures, heat transfer, and controls.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and make sound technical decisions under schedule/cost constraints.
• Experience translating customer needs into verifiable requirements and leading design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead senior technical authority across multidisciplinary turbomachinery design teams to meet system objectives.
• Direct technical reviews and communicate complex issues to engineers, PMs, customers and stakeholders.
• Translate top-level requirements into actionable engineering direction and drive verification/validation.
• Oversee system architecture, functional allocation, and interface control documents.
• Drive verification strategies, traceability, and closure of verification evidence.
• Coordinate activities across internal disciplines, suppliers, and manufacturing/quality teams.
• Mentor engineers and promote disciplined systems engineering practices.
• Ensure traceability from customer needs to hardware through lifecycle, including risk management and safety considerations.
• Support hazard analyses, FMEA/FMECA, and reliability assessments.
• Travel as required and collaborate on government/industry engagements.
