Job summary

Leidos Defense seeks a Lead Systems Engineer to join the IFPC Inc 2 team in Huntsville. You will guide MBSE modeling, weapon system architecture, and AI-enabled process improvements while coordinating cross-functional activities to meet program milestones and budgets.

The position requires a strong track record in systems engineering, DoD familiarity, and leadership of large engineering teams, with a readiness to engage with customer representatives and proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from ABET-accredited university with 8+ years experience or MS with 6+ years.
• Experience deriving and managing requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems.
• Experience creating verification and test plans, and coordinating system integration and test activities to support verification of system level requirements.
• Basic understanding of radar systems or sensor system operations.
• Experience leading cross-discipline and product teams.
• Demonstrated experience communicating within a team environment, including leading and conducting Technical Design Reviews.
• Resident of North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville/North Alabama, AL.
• Possess a secret clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Lead Systems Engineer will supervise a large team of systems engineers, including a requirements lead, verification lead, and architecture lead.
• Drive MBSE model vision and weapon system architecture; leverage AI to optimize processes.
• Support proposals and new program efforts; serve as technical liaison with customer representatives.
• Provide monthly team status reports to Program Leadership and manage budget alignment.
• Coordinate activities across functional areas; drive integration of new technologies into processes.
• Ensure artifacts like Requirements Specifications and Verification Closure Notices meet quality standards.

Education

ABET-accredited engineering degree (Electrical/Mechanical/Systems etc.)

MS in Systems Engineering (ABET-accredited)
