Job summary

Safran Federal Systems seeks a Lead Systems Engineer to own a new product line from concept to prototype, then mature it for multiple offerings. You will lead research and development for NAVWAR, EW, and PNT/GNSS threat simulation, define system requirements, and oversee a rigorous verification and validation process.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, reporting to the Engineering Director in Rochester, NY.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a related role.
• Experience designing to meet DoD security requirements and handling classified data.
• Strong technical writing and documentation abilities.
• Proficiency with GNSS receivers/simulators and PNT tech.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage system requirements and specifications across the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with customers’ systems engineers, hardware, software engineers, and technical staff.
• Gather and analyze requirements to align with business goals and standards.
• Lead system design reviews, assessments, and risk analyses.
• Create documentation for system design, verification, and validation.
• Provide technical guidance through development and deployment phases.
• Analyze data to verify requirements and validate performance.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Provide on-site technical expertise as needed.
• Train customers and present to partners.
• Develop cost baselines and work breakdown structures.
