Job summary

Rincon Research Corporation is seeking a mid-level Lead Systems Administrator in Palm Bay, FL to own server/storage management, patching, and deployment across local and remote sites. You will support enterprise and air-gapped systems, build monitoring, and maintain documentation in a collaborative, mission-focused team.

The role requires US citizenship and active TS/SCI clearance, with experience on Special Access Systems and relevant certifications within 90 days / 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux systems (RHEL/Rocky/CentOS) including patching and compliance.
• Storage management across flash arrays, SAN, NFS, iSCSI, and object storage.
• Scripting and automation with Bash, Python, or PowerShell; use of Ansible/Puppet/Terraform.

Responsibilities

What are the primary responsibilities in the Lead Systems Administrator position?

In this role, you will serve as a primary point of contact for technical end user support for enterprise and air-gapped systems, working directly with users on complex, specialized systems. You will also take ownership of server and storage management, system patching and compliance, and deployment activities at both local and remote locations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide technical end user support for highly specialized mission systems, diagnosing and resolving issues across hardware, software, and integrated platforms
• Monitor and triage systems and applications to identify issues and assess their impact on hardware, network, or service operations
• Manage the full lifecycle of servers, storage systems, and associated hardware, including provisioning, configuration, patching, compliance, and decommission
• Manage and maintain enterprise flash storage arrays and associated data infrastructure
• Deploy, configure, and maintain RF and specialized hardware systems, ensuring operational readiness
• Travel to remote sites to perform system deployments, upgrades, and on-site support activities
• Build and maintain monitoring capabilities, dashboards, and alerting to provide insight into system and service health
• Develop and maintain operational documentation including user guides, knowledge bases, system maintenance records, configuration standards, and repeatable deployment practices
• Manage system compliance and security vulnerability remediation, including tracking findings, coordinating patching cycles, and maintaining documentation to meet regulatory and program requirements
• Maintain lab environments in a clean, organized, and compliant state consistent with established standards
• Participate in capacity planning, infrastructure migrations, and technology refresh cycles, including upgrades and improvements with minimal disruption to operations
• Propose and implement technical solutions that support infrastructure modernization and operational continuity

Certifications

• Security certification in compliance with DOD 8570 required within 90 days of hire
• Professional certification in one or more of the following areas required within 6 months of hire

Education and Experience

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or 5 years of equivalent hands‑on experience

Desired Skills

• Proven experience administering Linux systems (RHEL, Rocky, CentOS), including patching, remediation, compliance scanning, and security tooling such as Nessus or Rapid7
• Experience managing physical and virtualized server environments alongside enterprise storage platforms, including flash arrays, SAN, NFS, iSCSI, and object storage
• Working knowledge of configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform, and scripting experience in Bash, Python, or PowerShell
• Foundational knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and subnets, as well as PKI, certificate management, and related security practices
• Familiarity with observability practices including logging, monitoring, and telemetry across systems and applications

Where is the position located?

This position can be located at our Palm Bay, FL office. This position is on-site and not a hybrid role.

• The likely salary range for this position is $108,000 to $122,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
