Job summary

Rincon Research Corporation in Colorado Springs is seeking an Advanced Systems Engineer to lead requirements development, system architecture and design, and risk mitigation within a multi-disciplinary R&D environment.

Candidates should hold a degree in CS/CE/EE or related field and have experience across the full system lifecycle. TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship are required. The position offers a salary between $175,000 and $205,000 with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Degree (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • Expert system engineering knowledge across the full system lifecycle, including requirements analysis and allocation, system architecture and design, integration, test, transition to operations, and sustainment activities.
  • Ability to write test plans and procedures
  • Ability to write training material
  • Comfort with agile development methods in a dynamic environment
  • Technical Knowledge: Previous experience as a Systems Engineer, working with or for a large contractor on a Research and Development program is desired.
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to perform systematic analysis of systems to identify software, hardware, and interface issues and support resolution across the system lifecycle is crucial.
  • Attention to detail: Ability to identify and articulate discrepancy reports outlining issues or bugs with mitigation response deadlines.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to develop and interpret complex technical requirements and associate those to system engineering milestones within the development lifecycle.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work with engineers and customer to develop a comprehensive RVTM

Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements development, system architecture and design, risk identification and mitigation.
  • Produce clear, traceable technical documentation and use modern engineering tools and testing environments.
  • Work unsupervised with minimal direction and demonstrate self-starting capabilities.
  • Engage with customer and engineers to develop RVTM and ensure traceability.
  • Support secure computing systems and demonstrate strong written/verbal communication.

What are the primary responsibilities in the Advanced Systems Engineer position?

Core responsibilities include leading requirements development, system architecture and design, risk identification and mitigation. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to produce clear, traceable technical documentation, and proficiency with modern engineering tools, test environments, and secure computing systems is paramount.   • Experience in Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) development
  • Experience developing system documentation to include the following:

    • Formal Technical Reviews and Artifacts
    • Formal and Informal Test Processes
  • System Requirements Review (SRR)
  • Preliminary Design Review (PDR)
  • Critical Design Review / Critical Design Readiness Review (CDR/CDRR)
  • CONOP documents

Where is the position located?

This position is located at our Colorado Springs, CO location.

*The likely salary range for this position is $175,000 to $205,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
