Job summary

STR's Space Missions and Sensing (SMS) Sector in the Boston area is seeking a Program Manager to oversee complex DoD programs spanning system capabilities, test needs, and demonstrations. You will work with senior researchers and PIs to shape execution plans and deliver results.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in engineering, 8+ years in government contracting or R&D, and the ability to obtain/retain SCI/SAP clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience in Government contracting or R&D.
  • Experience managing projects for the Department of Defense with proven delivery on complex programs.
  • Strong ability to plan, execute, and communicate at the program level.

Responsibilities

  • Manage program schedule and budget. Navigate complex requirements to deliver an execution plan.
  • Plan, execute, and deliver program capability with the principal investigator.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation plans; monitor progress and adjust as needed.
  • Coordinate across functional capabilities to maximize outcomes.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to manage expectations and drive improvements.
  • Track cost, schedule, and technical program metrics to stay within plan.
  • Lead capture and proposal writing/delivery while following gated processes.
  • Create and manage subcontractor statements of work and monitor execution.

STR’s Space Missions and Sensing (SMS) Sector’s mission is to develop and apply innovative technology to space-based sensing, space control, and counter-sensing. Within the SMS Sector, the Space and Counter Space (SCS) team is at the forefront in electronic warfare technologies. Our team strives to bring critical and transformational capabilities to the warfighter through creative ideas and techniques. To realize the value, the team develops both engineering and operational prototypes to demonstrate capabilities in real world environments.

We take pride in our ability to address warfighter operational needs. Our core team includes principal investigators, program managers, signal processors, SW developers, FPGA expertise, RF and Electromagnetic engineers, and mechanical design experts. Our facilities support on site build and test (benchtop, anechoic chamber, and over the air). We collaborate with a dynamic group of research engineers across STR, academic researchers, and industry partners to develop practical and effective solutions to RF sensing and counter-sensing challenges.

Building upon our strong performance the work is expanding. We are seeking individuals with program management experience and interest in being part of a system of systems work program encompassing both new capabilities and operational prototype systems. The Role

The Space Mission Sector is seeking a Program Manager to join our growing technology company in the Boston area. Candidate will support programs covering a range of system capabilities, test needs, and demonstration locations. Strong technical, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills are desired.

What you will do:
  • Management/oversight of program schedule and budget. Navigate through complex program requirements to bring clarity to execution plan
  • Work in partnership with program principal investigator on planning, execution, and delivery of program capability
  • Identification of risks and development of mitigation plans. Monitor progress against goals and initiate corrective actions as appropriate
  • Coordinate across functional capabilities to maximize outcome
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations and drive continuous improvements
  • Effectively execute multiple programs to ensure cost, schedule, and technical program metrics are being tracked and are within plan
  • Provide expertise in proposal development by leading the capture and proposal writing/delivery while ensuring adherence to gated capture process
  • Create subcontractor statements of work and manage/track subcontractors to ensure proper execution
  • Create and maintain an environment that fosters collaboration by giving clear direction and constructive feedback
  • Understand customer/operational need, ensure outcomes meet the need, and identify future opportunities
  • Connect across synergistic programs to realize execution efficiencies and to help shape STR strategy
Who you are:
  • Active Security Clearance at the Secret or Top Secret (TS) level, for which U.S citizenship is needed by the U.S government
  • Ability to obtain and retain a SCI/SAP Security Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and minimum of 8 years of priori relevant experience in Government contracting or research and development
  • Experience managing projects for the Department of Defense
  • Skills and experience in the use of tools to aid in program management

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $147,000 - $200,000

The salary range listed is based on external market data. Offers are based on factors, such as but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, key skills/critical skills, security clearances, and prevailing market and business conditions.
