The Lead System Engineer is responsible for translating the core architecture for business requirements into the final technical solution (consisting of platform, network, software, cloud, etc.) through functional, performance, and reliability analysis using engineering models and techniques, primarily through software development throughout the vertical stack. Defines designs; Provides technical enablement for application components and subsystems for an Application(s). Drives important design decisions for development team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and define interfaces for specific components, including:

    • Defining subsystems and their interfaces.

    • Allocating responsibilities to subsystems.

    • Understanding solution deployment and communicating requirements for interactions with the solution context.

  • Align development teams to a shared technical direction, collaborating to elaborate the solution and its interfaces.

    • Validate technology assumptions and evaluate implementation alternatives.

    • Establish and refine critical non-functional requirements (NFRs) at the solution level.

  • Enable and create the Continuous Delivery Pipeline:

    • Participate in planning, definition, and high-level design of the system solution while exploring alternatives.

    • Develop the Architectural Runway to support new business features and capabilities.

    • Collaborate with portfolio stakeholders, Solution Architects, and Enterprise Architects to develop, analyze, and implement enablers.

    • Participate in project planning, system and solution demos, and retrospective workshops.

    • Assist with the architectural integration of external components, systems, and platforms.

Additional Skills and Expertise:

  • Proficiency in monitoring tools such asELK (Elastic Stack),Dynatrace,Quantum Metric (QM), andCatchpoint, with hands-on experience in implementing and managing these tools to ensure performance, reliability, and observability of applications and systems.

  • Strong understanding of solution deployment, operational monitoring, and performance optimization.

Education:

  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; Developer nanodegree; or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Typically requires 5-8 years of experience in software development, system architecture, or a related technical field.

Our Lead System Engineering, earns between $143,800-$215,800 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
