Description

We're seeking a passionate Lead Switchgear & Upgrade Technician who takes pride in their craft and aims to make a meaningful impact. Responsibilities & Expectations:

The Lead Conversion Technician will oversee the conversion team, ensuring efficient and timely execution of breaker conversions, switchgear modifications, and short-duration projects (8-32 hours). This role requires strong organizational, technical, leadership, and mentorship skills, contributing to departmental growth by optimizing processes and fostering continuous improvement.

  • Work on low & medium voltage circuit breakers from brands like GE, Westinghouse, Powell, ABB, ITE, etc.
  • Troubleshoot, retrofit, test, and assemble low, medium, and high voltage switchgear, including breakers, contactors, and related electrical apparatus.
Team Leadership & Supervision:

Manage and guide the Conversion Technicians, acting as the primary contact regarding job responsibilities and project execution.

Project Scheduling & Workflow Coordination:

Plan and assign daily tasks for various projects, ensuring adherence to schedules.

Technical Oversight & Execution:

Lead and participate in conversion and modification projects.

Training & Skill Development:

Provide hands-on training to enhance team members' technical skills.

Performance Management & Accountability:

Set performance expectations, monitor productivity and quality, and provide feedback.

Qualifications and Competencies:
  • High School Diploma or GED; electro-mechanical training preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience with 480V to 25KV circuit breakers or 5+ years in a mechanical industrial environment.
  • Testing skills and understanding of electrical/mechanical testing procedures are a plus.
  • Experience with OEM breaker manufacturers is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of industrial engines, pneumatics, hydraulics, or diesel equipment is beneficial.
  • Understanding of power systems and switchgear is desirable.
