Job summary

YMCA of Greater Dayton in Englewood, OH seeks a Lead Swim Team Coach to provide quality instructional training for swimmers aged 13 and up. This is a part-time, non-exempt role requiring hands-on coaching, safety oversight, and program support.

You will design training plans, supervise practices, approve meet entries, and ensure compliance with YMCA guidelines. Excellent communication with families is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• 2–4 years swim coach experience preferred.
• CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications required; Lifeguard recommended.
• YMCA Swim Coach Certification and USA Swimming Coach Certification renewals.
• American Swim Coaches Association Levels 1–3 preferred.
• Knowledge of competitive swimming strokes, starts, turns.
• Experience with Team Unify software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead coach for a specific senior group (13+), age group (12-under), or other practice group as assigned by Director or Coordinator.
• Design and implement a training plan; supervise swimmers and practices and all on-deck activities.
• Approve meet entries for practice group by registration deadlines.
• Enforce team policies such as attendance and behavior.
• Assist Swim Team Director with daily practices and swim meets.
• Maintain professional attitude and communicate effectively with swimmers and parents.
• Ensure safety by enforcing pool rules and reporting hazards.
• Keep accurate records on each swimmer and provide evaluations.
• Promote aquatics and YMCA programs.
