Job summary

YMCA in Flemington, NJ is seeking a Swim Instructor to teach and mentor children in a flexible, part-time role with opportunities for full-time hours. The position emphasizes safety, communication, and teamwork within the aquatics program.

Responsibilities include leading group and private lessons, using approved lesson plans, and maintaining equipment and progress communication with guardians.

Qualifications

• Age 15+
• Experience with kids and passionate about teaching children to swim
• Ability to pass American Red Cross CPR Certification
• Ability to complete our in-water skills assessment

Responsibilities

• Work with groups and individuals to help them achieve their swim-skill goals
• Ensuring that lessons are conducted in accordance with the YMCA's internal lesson plans and policies
• Setting and cleaning up equipment for lessons
• Communicating with participants and their guardians about lesson progress and goals
• Ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for the students to thrive in
• Working collaboratively with aquatics staff, lifeguards, and supervisors to support overall pool operations and programming
• Participating in staff training and in-service meetings
