Job summary

PrimECS is seeking a Survey Party Chief (Heavy Civil Construction) to lead day-to-day field survey operations on landmark projects across the Mid-Atlantic. You will direct crews, perform precise layout for utilities, structures and transportation infrastructure, and coordinate with Project Managers and engineers.

Proficiency with GNSS / RTK GPS, robotic total stations, machine control, UAV workflows, and Civil 3D or Carlson is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy civil construction survey experience.
• Proven ability to lead a survey crew independently.
• Strong knowledge of construction layout, survey control, elevations, coordinate systems, and field calculations.
• Experience with bridge, highway, rail, utility, marine, airport, or tunnel construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leading all field survey and construction layout activities.
• Performing precise layout for utilities, grading, structures, concrete, and transportation infrastructure.
• Operating robotic total stations, GNSS/GPS systems, and electronic data collectors independently.
• Reviewing plans, models, coordinate files, and stakeout packages before construction begins.
• Directing Survey Instrument Operators and Survey Technicians.
• Coordinating daily with Superintendents, Foremen, Engineers, and Project Managers.
• Performing and documenting as-built surveys.
• Identifying and resolving layout conflicts before they impact construction.
• Maintaining accurate field records and QA/QC documentation.
