Job summary

HCA Florida West Marion Hospital is seeking a Lead Surgical Technologist to lead the operating room team, ensure sterile prep and support surgeons through complex procedures. You will mentor teammates, manage counts and infection prevention, and drive efficient patient care in collaboration with a skilled surgical staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of a vocational surgical tech program is required.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead surgical preparation by organizing suites, equipment and instruments.
• Scrub in and support surgeons during complex procedures in a safe sterile environment.
• Mentor and guide surgical technologists and train new team members.
• Oversee quality and safety by counts, specimens, and infection prevention standards.
• Promote teamwork and efficiency with effective communication and on-call support.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading surgical preparation by organizing suites, equipment, and instruments to ensure readiness for every procedure
• Scrubbing in and supporting surgeons through complex cardiac surgeries, anticipating needs and maintaining a safe, sterile environment
• Guiding and mentoring surgical technologists, serving as a role model while training new team members and reinforcing best practices
• Overseeing quality and safety by managing counts, handling specimens, and ensuring compliance with infection prevention standards
• Driving teamwork and efficiency through effective communication, rapid problem-solving, and support for on-call and emergency cases

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Vocational Training Program in Surgical Technology
• Currently certified as a Surgical Technologist preferred
• BLS Certification required
• 1 years experience Required Years of Experience
