HCA Florida West Marion Hospital in Ocala, FL is seeking a Lead Surgical Technologist to lead the OR team, scrub for procedures, and mentor newer staff in best practices, helping ensure efficient, safe surgeries and positive patient outcomes.

This role drives preparation, supports complex cardiac cases, oversees counts and infection prevention, and champions teamwork, communication, and continual improvement within our mission of compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Vocational training program in Surgical Technology required.
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
• BLS Certification required.
• 1 year of experience required.

Responsibilities

• Leading surgical preparation by organizing suites, equipment, and instruments for procedures.
• Scrubbing in and supporting surgeons through complex surgeries, maintaining a sterile environment.
• Guiding and mentoring surgical technologists and training new team members.
• Overseeing quality and safety by managing counts, handling specimens, and infection prevention compliance.
• Driving teamwork and efficiency through effective communication and support for on-call and emergency cases.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Lead Surgical Technologist, you’ll take on a vital leadership role in the OR, guiding your team and ensuring patients receive the safest, most advanced surgical care. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading surgical preparation by organizing suites, equipment, and instruments to ensure readiness for every procedure
• Scrubbing in and supporting surgeons through complex cardiac surgeries, anticipating needs and maintaining a safe, sterile environment
• Guiding and mentoring surgical technologists, serving as a role model while training new team members and reinforcing best practices
• Overseeing quality and safety by managing counts, handling specimens, and ensuring compliance with infection prevention standards
• Driving teamwork and efficiency through effective communication, rapid problem-solving, and support for on-call and emergency cases

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Vocational Training Program in Surgical Technology
• Currently certified as a Surgical Technologist preferred
• BLS Certification required
