Job summary

Lovelace Health System is seeking a day-shift, full-time Surgery Lead Surgical Technician in Albuquerque, NM. As the lead in the operating room, you will coordinate tasks, assist surgeons with procedures, and ensure instrument sterility under RN supervision.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, completion of a surgical technology program, and BLS certification. Prior OR experience and knowledge of sterilization are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or hospital-based program.
• Demonstrated sterilization techniques and familiarity with OR instruments.
• Proficiency in medical terminology and patient safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Serves as 'lead' in their functional area and coordinates special project assignments.
• Assists surgeons with surgical procedures within the operating room under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, including conveying sterile instruments and supplies used in basic to complex surgical procedures.
• Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

Job Requirements :

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent; graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or hospital -based program.
• Sterilization techniques.
• Operating Room instruments and supplies.
• Medical terminology.
• Six (6) months' experience in an acute care hospital-based operating room, or ambulatory surgery center.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements

• Certified.
• 1 year of OR experience.
• CORT or CST.
