Job summary

My client, an American automotive innovator, seeks a Lead Supplier Development / Quality Engineer to drive supplier quality for EV accessories and interior/exterior systems. The role focuses on audits, KPI development, and ensuring fitment to safety and electrical standards.

You will work remotely with a Troy, MI operation, bringing 10+ years of supplier QA/Development experience and strong communication in a fast-paced startup setting.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree or higher in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Materials Science, or Supply Chain Management.
• 10+ years of direct Supplier Quality Engineering or Development experience, or 5+ years at a start-up preferably with automotive accessories.
• Excellent working knowledge of quality systems, processes, methods, tools and standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, lean principles, and continuous improvement.
• Hands-on experience with low-voltage systems, exterior/ interior accessory integration, and smart tech features is a strong plus.
• Strong working knowledge of supplier KPIs, scorecard development, and holding suppliers accountable for quality and delivery.
• Familiarity with automotive safety, mechanical and electrical integration standards, especially as they relate to EV accessory systems.
• Ability to interpret and review technical drawings and GD&T standards for accessory fitment and installation.
• Experience working with ERP and eQMS systems to track supplier performance and part traceability.
• Very strong problem-solving capabilities with good working knowledge of 8Ds, 6Sigma, Shanin etc.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
• High level of integrity and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

• In this role the candidate will perform domestic and international supplier audits, administer the APQP process, and hold suppliers accountable to the Quality Requirements Manual.
• Develop supplier KPI/scorecards and drive actions to improve performance and accountability.
• Evaluate suppliers for production awards and manage all aspects of supplier quality performance in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

They are looking for a Lead Supplier Development / Quality Engineer to join their expanding team on a Contract basis. The role will be Remote however, the company is located in Troy, MI.

Job Description:

• Our Client is seeking an energetic, organized, and experienced Lead Supplier Development / Quality Engineer (SDE/SQE) to join their growing team.
• This SDE/SQE will lead aspects of supplier quality and performance for EV-specific vehicle accessories, working closely with suppliers of Exterior and Interior systems and add-ons, particularly for our SUV variant.
• You’ll ensure our accessories meet the highest standards of safety, durability, and integration with our electric platforms — on budget and on time.

What You Bring To The Team:

• In this position the candidate will be responsible for performing domestic and international supplier audits, administer the APQP process, hold supplier(s) accountable to our Quality Requirements Manual, develop implement supplier partner KPI/scorecard and implement actions to improve hold suppliers accountable to perform. The SQE will also be pivotal in evaluating suppliers for production awards, all aspects of supplier quality performance, developing strong supplier relationships, and working with all internal stakeholders to support the company’s overall objectives and core values.
