Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a seniorElectrical engineer to design utility-scale substations and energy storage systems for U.S. customers. You will lead multiple design projects, mentor staff, and coordinate with project teams to meet technical and schedule requirements.

You will apply advanced engineering principles, perform analyses, reviews, and develop detailed designs aligned with customer specifications and Mortenson standards. Travel up to 30% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related engineering program; ABET accreditation preferred.
• Familiarity with engineering software packages and project controls software (Procore).
• Knowledge in system integration, product adaptation, and design development for electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineer on 1–3 large design projects with quarterly progress reviews.
• Mentor and guide other engineering professionals.
• Review and approve equipment vendor quotes and prepare technical data for fabrication and construction.
• Develop and verify technical designs meeting engineering standards and safety codes.
• Coordinate with project managers, design phase managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver designs on time.
• Travel up to 30% to support field and client requirements.
