Job summary

Optimized Process Designs (OPD), a Koch Engineered Solutions company, seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer to own the engineering execution of HV/EHV substations on lump-sum EPC contracts. You will shepherd design decisions from concept to energization, balancing safety, reliability, constructability, cost, and schedule.

You will lead substation physical engineering, protection & control, and interconnection studies while mentoring teams and coordinating with utilities and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Active PE license and utility/EPC substation experience are required.
• Proven leadership in engineering execution on complex EPC projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority for substation scope on EPC projects.
• Lead engineering decisions informed by power system studies, grid conditions, and constraints.
• Mentor engineers and designers across disciplines to ensure quality and safety.
• Lead protection & control engineering including relay design and settings.
• Develop and review relay settings, protection coordination, and equipment specs.
• Coordinate with project managers, construction, and commissioning teams.
