Job summary

Life Enhancement Services - DC seeks a Substance Use Disorder Counselor to support clients and families through rehabilitation and recovery from substance and behavioral addictions. The role reports to the Clinical Director and emphasizes a strengths-based approach within a multidisciplinary team.

The counselor will provide individual and group therapy, maintain records, and ensure program quality through ongoing assessment and supervision. This is a full-time, on-site position in Washington, DC.

Qualifications

• Licensed mental health professional with relevant DC credentials.
• Minimum 3 years supervising clinical staff and programs.
• At least 5 years in behavioral health settings with direct client care.
• Knowledge of diverse counseling modalities and assessment methods.
• Familiarity with crisis response and program evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling per treatment plans.
• Create, maintain and submit accurate client records promptly.
• Stay updated on assessment techniques, systems, and resources.
• Manage clinical staff, including hiring and performance evaluations.
• Provide crisis support to therapists and clients as needed.
• Assess and evaluate the clinical program to meet funding requirements.
• Maintain client files and statistics per agency policies.
• Track client outcomes and use data to manage program performance.
• Prioritize evidence-based practices and benchmark against trends.
