Qualifications

• Master's degree in human services or related field.
• Experience implementing programs in correctional settings preferred.
• 2+ years in chemical dependency treatment in offender settings preferred.
• Meets requirements for Certified Addictions Professional.
• Knowledge of Twelve Step programs (AA/NA).
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency with standard computer software used by the department.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor other Substance Abuse Counselors.
• Orient inmates to chemical dependency treatment and education programs.
• Facilitate group and individual counseling sessions.
• Select and recommend instructional materials for the program.
• Maintain knowledge of new developments in the field.
• Develop individual written program plans for each inmate.
• Complete documentation for assigned inmates.
• Coordinate resident program schedules to meet goals.
• Develop discharge plans and provide follow-up after release.
• Recruit volunteers for Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
