Job summary

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Structures Engineer to lead the structural design for autonomous surface vessels (ASVs). You will manage design gates, conduct reviews, and support prototyping and supplier selection.

The role emphasizes hands-on sizing, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and producing thorough design documentation. Proficiency in NX or SolidWorks and familiarity with ASME Y14.5 are desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or greater in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2+ years experience in structural analysis and simulation using FEA software such as Femap (preferred) or ANSYS.
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics and materials science with real-world application.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineers in structural analysis methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Own structural design of ASV systems and/or subsystems from concept through prototyping and production.
• Maintain and track design gates (PDR, CDR) and schedules for owned hardware.
• Prepare and conduct design reviews of owned structural systems/subsystems.
• Support initial prototyping and build of new ASV platforms and variants.
• Support procurement of prototype hardware and supplier selection process.
• Produce engineering design definition artifacts including 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Perform preliminary structural sizing via hand calculations.
• Collaborate with hardware, product development, and production to optimize designs based on load cases.
• Generate technical reports documenting design decisions and rationale.
