Job summary

Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) seeks a Structures Design Lead to oversee bridge and structures design projects, mentor junior engineers, and ensure design packages are delivered on time and within budget. The role includes leading the design process, coordinating with multiple divisions, and reviewing consultant work.

Strong knowledge of AASHTO codes and BIM workflows is preferred. Eligibility requires PE licensure in Utah, with reciprocity for out-of-state licenses.

Qualifications

• PE license in Utah required; out-of-state reciprocity allowed before start date.
• 2+ years of professional engineering experience after PE licensure.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for bridges and structures design; develop plans and specs.
• Lead design teams through the design process and prepare contract documents for advertisement.
• Review and oversee consultant designs and provide design support during construction.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with Structures Design Manager.
