Job summary

Luster National, Inc. is seeking a Structural Steel Bridge Inspector for on-site work in the greater Savannah, GA region.

The role focuses on field erection, welding, bolting, coatings, and specialty systems for bridges and transportation structures. Responsibilities include verifying shop drawings, welding procedures, and contract specs; coordinating NDT and installation of bearings, joints, and post-tensioning systems; and maintaining inspection records for acceptance and payments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or construction management.
• 7+ years of transportation inspection experience with a state highway agency.
• Experience with stay cable/cable replacement projects.
• Ability to read shop drawings, erection plans, welding procedures, and test reports.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.5, AWS D1.1, AASHTO, and ASCE/ASTM structural steel requirements.
• Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Inspect field erection of structural steel against approved plans and erection sequence.
• Verify delivered steel, materials, and welds; document conformance and damage.
• Review welding procedures and PE test reports prior to field welding.
• Coordinate nondestructive testing and evaluate results against acceptance criteria.
• Maintain inspection records and daily reports for project payments and QC.
• Coordinate inspection around live traffic, rail corridors, and work zones.
