Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead and manage the Structural Engineering Team in our Syracuse, NY office.

The role emphasizes technical oversight, workload leveling, and guiding design teams through projects ranging from bridges to complex foundations. Ideal candidates have a PE license, SE preferred, and 8+ years of relevant design experience; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years directly relevant experience in a design environment (required).
• Minimum of 5 years managing direct reports (required).
• Experience in design/detailing of steel connections and reinforced concrete (required).
• Experience in repair/retrofit design of concrete and steel structures (required).
• Knowledge of structural engineering software (RISA/ETABS/RAM/SAP2000/SAFE/GSA) (required).
• CAD/BIM software experience (AutoCAD/Revit) (preferred).
• Field work and overnight travel may be required (required).
• OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and related safety requirements may be required (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers during design.
• Coordinate workloads and priorities within the Structural Team.
• Develop scopes of work for proposals and attend site walks and client meetings.
• Lead design teams through engineering processes and plan development.
• Serve as Engineer of Record when needed and ensure construction document quality.
• Conduct structural condition assessments and contribute to value engineering.
• Collaborate on standards and workflows with Technical Manager.
• Travel to client sites as needed.
