Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer (Generation) to join the Power & Energy team in Houston, TX, with consideration for Hailey, ID; Seattle, WA; Overland Park, KS; Atlanta, GA; Oradell, NJ; Mt. Laurel, NJ; and Boise, ID.

Responsibilities include designing foundations and structures for solar farms, energy storage, and large power projects, coordinating with drafters, and traveling 5–10% to project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 7+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering discipline and prior structural or civil design experience.
• PE license is required.
• Experience with power generation, transmission, and distribution projects.

Responsibilities

• Design light foundations and structures for solar farms, battery energy storage facilities, and substation projects.
• Design heavy foundations and structures for large power generation projects: generators, turbines, transformers, pipe racks, gas compressors, metal buildings, and masonry walls/buildings.
• Design structural steel systems for buildings, platforms, equipment supports, etc.
• Coordinate design requirements with drafter/designers.
• Occasional travel to clients, projects, and sites to interface with clients and monitor construction (5–10% travel).
• Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a professional manner.
• Collaborate with engineers and authorities on projects and proposals.
