Job summary

Brindley Engineering Corporation seeks a detail-oriented civil/structural engineer to lead field evaluations of industrial structures, perform data analysis, and develop rehabilitation or replacement plans. Responsibilities include creating calculations, drafting reports, and providing technical support for construction.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering, 8+ years of experience, and a PE; SE (IL) is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering required.
• 8+ years of experience in structural engineering.
• Professional Engineer license; Structural Engineer license (IL) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead field evaluation of existing structures and sites.
• Develop calculations and analytical models for steel, concrete and other materials.
• Design rehabilitation or replacement plans and reports.
• Specify materials and provide technical reports.
• Provide technical support for structural construction.
• Interact with clients, develop proposals and estimates.

Job Description

Detail-oriented, reliable, creative team player to lead field evaluations of industrial structures, analyze data, evaluate root cause of failure, complete analytical modeling and calculations, develop engineered rehabilitation/replacement plans & specifications.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Lead field evaluation of existing structures
• Develop calculations and analytical models in steel, concrete, and other materials
• Lead the design of structural rehabilitation and/or replacement plans
• Specify materials, lead the development of reports
• Technical support for structural construction
• Client interface, proposal and estimate development

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil / Structural Engineering
• Experience: Yr = 8+
• Licensure: P.E. Required, S.E. (IL) Preferred

Technical Skills

• Extensive knowledge of STAAD/SAP, AISC, AISC, AWS required
• Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred

Client Interface And Team Mentoring Experience Preferred

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Unique Site Requirements

Individual field assignments typically each have their own unique requirements. Prior to deployment on any field assignment, you must be able to meet all client-specific site requirements. Should you be unable or unwilling to meet assignment-specific requirements, your continued employment would then be subject to the availability of other assignments whose requirements can be met. These unique requirements may include:

• You must possess physical mobility (on the ground and at heights)
• You may be required to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
• You may be required to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding/ladders using the appropriate and required fall protection.
• You must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold, and wind) while wearing the appropriate PPE. This may include but not be limited to a hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather, steel-toed work boots.
• You may be required to position yourself to work in confined spaces
• You may be required to adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site
• You may be required to meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site

Brindley considers several factors when determining base salary that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, certifications, specific work location, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonus and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans in addition to base pay to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results.
