Summary

The part-time Lead Structural Engineer will lead the delivery of technically robust projects vital to our transportation network, focusing on bridges and structures like culverts, walls, and sign structures. The role involves ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.

You will make significant design decisions within your expertise, mentor staff, contribute to marketing and business development, and may serve as Project Manager for specific projects. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers to impact our innovative team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Utilize software for analysis and design of complex bridges and structures.
  • Assess and design rehabilitations for existing bridges.
  • Prepare technical specifications, reports, calculations, plans, and construction services.
  • Contribute to engineering budgets and schedules.
  • Develop design procedures to ensure high-quality work.
  • Guide and manage junior engineers and CAD staff.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Perform quality control reviews of designs and drawings.
  • Lead development of project proposals and agreements.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 10 years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical literature and plans.
  • Proficiency with bridge design software such as LEAP Enterprise, STAAD, MDX, and MIDAS.
  • Experience with technical analysis equipment and systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applicable to routine and complex tasks.
  • Experience designing bridges and transportation structures.
