Parsons is now hiring a Principal Bridge Engineer with a desire to work on transportation infrastructure projects that change the fabric of our community. Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your engineering knowledge, will propel your career forward with opportunity for advancement with top performance. We need our Principal Engineers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and who have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills. In this role you will provide management, planning, engineering, and design services for structures such as bridges, overpasses, retaining walls, culverts, tunnels, and sign structures. The successful candidate analyzes proposed projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Performs a variety of engineering duties and may identify as sub-disciplines of Civil Engineering. Responsible for the development of engineering computations, material quantity take-offs, estimates, surveys and designs. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.

Responsibilities:

  1. May function as discipline Project Engineer on medium to large projects, assuming responsibility for the work of the group.
  2. May plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring a large scale expenditure of manpower and financial investment.
  3. Help with business development requiring work plan and proposal development.
  4. Leads other Engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
  5. Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
  6. Ensures compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations, providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract.
  7. Prepares material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; reviews supplier data; witnesses shop tests, assists with assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities.
  8. Develops operation and maintenance plans; develops standard operating procedures; prepares O & M manuals and may conduct onsite training of personnel.
  9. Conducts surveys, studies, and site investigations/inspections. Performs reliability, availability, maintenance (RAM) and safety analyses.
  10. Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
  11. Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. May assist with other administrative and technical duties.
  12. Recommends and prepares technical papers.
  13. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and 10+ years of related work experience, Graduate degree preferred.
  2. Professional Engineer registration in the Province of BC is required.
  3. Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required.
  4. Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.

Salary Range:

$88,700 - $165,000.
