Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Connecticut seeks a Strategic Weapons System Test Engineer to proactively prepare for and execute testing for the COLUMBIA submarine, ensuring safety and efficiency.

The role requires leadership of test execution, cross‑functional coordination, and data analysis to validate test requirements while ensuring adherence to ITRO and SWSTEP, with eligibility for a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of system test experience or mechanical/technical background.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Preferred: mechanical system test experience including fluid or air system flush and hydrostatic testing.
• Preferred: electrical/electronic system test experience, including fiber optic cabling.
• Preferred: Navy shipyard supervision or test experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough hazard analyses and briefings to ensure safety.
• Certify prerequisites before starting a test.
• Evaluate data for conformance to test procedures.
• Lead test execution and data collection/certification.
• Qualify as and perform duties of Test Director & Shift Test Director.
• Coordinate testing between interfacing test departments.
