Job summary

Fairmont Austin is seeking a dedicated Stewarding Supervisor reporting to the Executive Steward. You will lead and supervise the Stewarding team, maintain sanitation of kitchen equipment and areas, and train all Kitchen Stewards to ensure readiness for events and daily operations.

This role requires strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a Stewarding department preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
• Highly responsible & reliable.
• Spanish language ability preferred.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player with attention to guest needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Stewarding team in all aspects of the department and ensure standards are followed.
• Maintain sanitation of kitchen equipment and other assigned areas.
• Train all Kitchen Stewards.
• Review banquet event orders and ensure all set-ups and supplies are in place.
• Operate and oversee dish machines and ensure availability of dishes, silverware and glasses.
• Sort, stack and store all cleaned items in an organized and safe manner.
• Report and remove broken items; keep floors dry and clean.
• Follow department policies, procedures and service standards.

Job description

Reporting to the Executive Steward, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

• Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
• Lead and supervise the Stewarding team in all aspects of the department and ensure standards are followed
• Supervise and maintain the sanitation of kitchen equipment and other areas assigned
• Train all Kitchen Stewards
• Review banquet event orders and ensure all set‑ups and supplies are in place
• Oversee and perform the following tasks: Operate an industrial dish machine
• Ensure all Colleagues have the dishes, silverware and glasses required
• Sort, stack dishes, and load/unload dish machine
• Sort, stack and store all cleaned items in an organized and safe manner
• Ensure all broken and chipped items are removed from circulation, reported and inventoried
• Ensure floors are dry and clean at all times
• Ensure all equipment is in working order and report any items in need of repair
• Remove debris and trash to designated areas throughout shift
• Clean and sanitize all pots, pans, and dishes by hand and using dish machines
• Follow department policies, procedures and service standards
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including all equipment and storage spaces
• Other duties as assigned
