Job summary

Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative in Oklahoma seeks a Lead Staking Engineer to serve as the technical expert for staking projects, including subdivisions and DOT relocations, and to mentor Staking Engineers.

You will review staking sheets, cost calculations, and contract details, stay updated on NESC standards, and act as the CVEC liaison on DOT and land development projects.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree preferred.
  • Staking certifications highly preferred.
  • 5-8 years' experience in utilities or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Advises and counsels members on services including extensions and relocations.
  • Performs staking duties to minimize appointment wait times and cover absences.
  • Reviews and approves staking sheets, cost calculations, and contract details.
  • Keeps informed on distribution line construction specs per RUS/NE SC and other regs.
  • Represents CVEC on DOT/highway/county road projects with state and local authorities.
  • Liaises with land developers for new housing additions within the service area.

Job description

The Lead Staking Engineer serves as the primary technical expert for staking related work. This role provides support to Staking Engineers and other Engineering employees. The Lead Staking Engineer will handle complex and large-scale projects such as subdivision design and DOT road relocation projects.

Essential Functions:
  • Advises and counsels members and prospective members on all matters pertaining to services, including new service extensions, relocations, upgrading, temporary loads, and other types of requested installations.
  • Performs staking duties, as necessary, to keep appointment waiting time down to the preferred length and to cover absences and leave requests.
  • Reviews and approves staking sheets, cost calculations, contract information, rate class, and all other member information.
  • Keeps informed on specifications of distribution line construction as recommended by RUS, NESC, and other applicable regulations.
  • Serves as the Cooperative's representative on all DOT, highway, and county road projects. Works with State of Oklahoma Highway Department, County Officials, and the appointed engineering consultants.
  • Serves as the Cooperative's liaison with land developers of new housing additions to be added in the service territory.
Training and Experience:
  • Technical degree preferred.
  • Staking certifications highly preferred.
  • 5-8 years' experience working in utility industry or related field.
