Job summary

Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CVEC) is seeking a System Administrator to maintain and support the organization's IT systems, including troubleshooting, hardware and software maintenance, and user training to ensure reliable services for all employees.

The role covers monitoring server and network health, performing updates and backups, implementing security controls, and providing timely technical support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience preferred in IT/system administration.
• Experience in electric distribution design and planning strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports the IT functions of the Cooperative, including managing the trouble ticket system.
• Monitor system health, including server, storage, and network performance to prevent issues.
• Assists with system updates, backups, installations, and implementations of software and hardware.
• Performs maintenance, enhancements, and technical support on existing hardware and software systems.
• Oversee regular data backups and ensure swift recovery in case of system failures.
• Implement security controls, manage user permissions, and ensure data integrity.

Job description

The System Administrator ensures the Cooperative’s IT systems are maintained and well-functioning in alignment with current best business practices. Provides support in areas of computer troubleshooting; hardware and software maintenance, and training for the purpose of providing adequate computer services to all employees.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems or other related field.
• 3-5 years of experience preferred.
• Experience in engineering fields of electric distribution design and Short/Long Range Planning strongly preferred.
