Job summary

Boston Legacy FC is seeking a hands-on Manager, Sports Turf & Grounds to maintain and improve training surfaces at our Brockton Performance Center in Brockton, MA. You will lead a Grounds team, coordinate with coaching staff, and ensure optimal field conditions for professional women's soccer.

The role requires turfgrass expertise, leadership, and a proactive mindset, with responsibilities spanning maintenance, event support, and winter operations. A hybrid schedule across MA/RI is expected.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Science or related field; 3+ years of high-level turfgrass experience.
• Experience managing sand-based root zones and cool-season grasses (Bluegrass, Ryegrass).
• Massachusetts Pesticide Applicator License within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain multiple pitches and facilities including natural and artificial surfaces and the bubble dome.
• Perform turf care routines: mowing, fertilization, aeration, seeding, brushing, debris clearance, and landscape upkeep.
• Monitor turf health, diagnose issues (pests, disease, environmental stress) and implement mitigation plans.
• Conduct surface testing to drive maintenance strategies and pitch quality data collection.
• Coordinate with Coaching and Sporting Staff for pitch prep and irrigation management during training.
• Lead and manage full-time and part-time Grounds team members, fostering collaboration across departments.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for product deliveries and external services.
• Perform preventative maintenance on turf equipment and assist with events and matchday operations.
• Support winter operations including snow clearing of driveways, parking areas, and entrances.
