Job summary

Saab is expanding its advanced manufacturing operations in Grayling, Michigan, and seeks Specialist Assemblers to join the production team, performing complex assemblies and mentoring peers. Responsibilities include solving problems on the line, leading workflows, ensuring quality, adhering to safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement, training new employees.

This role requires a high school diploma, leadership experience, ability to read complex drawings, and willingness to work

Qualifications

• 10+ years leadership experience in manufacturing environments.
• Ability to interpret complex technical documentation including drawings, schematics, and standard work instructions.
• Experience driving root-cause problem solving on production lines.
• Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and implementing new procedures.
• Experience with specialized tools, equipment, and manufacturing software on complex assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Apply problem solving techniques to troubleshoot issues and support production objectives.
• Spearhead production workflows and assembly line execution.
• Deliver work according to quality requirements and work instructions; implement requirements in daily team work.
• Understand and adhere to ESD and Explosive Safety control procedures and safeguarding requirements.
• Support daily continuous improvement highlighting opportunities in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Ability to complete functional testing of assemblies and systems and sign off per specification.
• Support training and transfer of knowledge to new employees.
• Contribute to a positive and productive work environment aligned with Saab values.
• Work extended hours and weekend overtime when required.
• Other tasks as assigned and authorized.
