Job summary

St. Luke’s Health System is seeking a Medical Interpreter Lead to facilitate clear and accurate interpretation for healthcare staff, patients, and visitors. Responsibilities include complex scheduling, and serving as a subject matter expert during leadership absence as requested.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 3 years of relevant experience, and 40 hours of professional interpreter training, plus language assessment and certification eligibility.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 3 years relevant experience
• Certificate: Minimum 40 Hours of Professional Medical Interpreter Training.
• Language Assessment: Must successfully pass language assessment through St. Luke's Health System prior to hire and hold one of: Certified Healthcare Interpreter or Certified Medical Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Interpret complex medical information to patients and/or companions.
• Assess and monitor patients' understanding of information conveyed.
• Advise medical personnel about cultural information that may impact patient care.
• Interprets in consecutive, simultaneous and sight translation modes.
• Maintain knowledge of medical and general terminology.
• Utilize a variety of technology to support departmental workflows.
