Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) is seeking a Spacecraft Mechanical Design Engineer for their Englewood, CO site. You will work with satellite technology development, leading mechanical design, GD&T and integration tasks across cross-functional teams to ensure robust space hardware.

Responsibilities include design, analysis, drafting, and testing of advanced space hardware, coordinating with internal and external partners, and overseeing prototype builds while maintaining cost

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD in engineering from an accredited institution with progressively increasing responsibility.
• Experience: twelve+ years with a bachelor’s, ten+ years with a master’s, or seven+ years with a PhD; substitute equivalent engineering experience if needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering solutions with creative designs, analysis, investigations and problem resolution.
• Design, analyze, draft, build and test advanced space hardware; apply statistics and math to determine processes.
• Create design specifications, CAD models and drawings; identify conflicts early in design.
• Develop integration plans, schedules, and milestones to meet cost and time targets.
• Conduct design reviews and propose solutions to optimize integration and design.
• Coordinate procurement with internal shop and external vendors; ensure proper GT&T and fit.
