Job summary

Rocket Lab in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Lead, Manufacturing Engineer to lead a team transforming spaceflight mechanism concepts into manufacturable designs, focusing on separation systems. You will design, procure, install and optimize production lines, drive yield improvements and collaborate across functions to enable scalable manufacturing of space hardware.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in Manufacturing, Production, or Process Engineering.
• Experience designing, implementing and supporting production lines.
• Track record leading teams to achieve technical and operational goals.
• Familiarity with aerospace mechanical fabrication techniques, materials, and finishes.
• Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, Pareto analysis, and root cause and corrective action methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Manufacturing Engineers to achieve goals.
• Conduct feasibility studies and R&D projects to evaluate advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Incorporate Design for Manufacturing principles into separation systems ensuring manufacturability at scale.
• Design, procure, install, and validate production lines and factory systems for assembly, testing and verification of spaceflight mechanisms.
• Triage and diagnose production issues, conduct root cause analyses, implement corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvements across manufacturing and test.
• Support change management and business system enhancements to improve efficiency.
