Job Description - Lead Spa Massage Therapist - Conrad Los Angeles (HOT0BLQ8)

Located in Downtown LA’s cultural corridor, Conrad Los Angeles is the city’s newest luxury destination, featuring over 300 rooms, a world-class spa, a 16,000-square-foot rooftop pool deck, 12,000 square feet of event space, and three dynamic dining experiences—including our signature restaurant, San Laurel, all in partnership with Chef Jose Andres' award-winning restaurant group, JoseAndresFoodGroup.

As a Lead Spa Massage Therapist, you will be responsible for assisting with guests’ comfort in a courteous and professional manner while performing all massage therapy services. You will support and lead the massage therapist staff in guest satisfaction, safety, sanitation, proper technical procedures, and spa profit maximization.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of massage therapy experience, preferably in a resort spa. Certifications in shiatsu and Thai massage are preferred. Previous customer service experience is also preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals. Effective communication in English is necessary. The ability to work a full 8-hour shift, including walking and standing, is required. Must possess valid massage therapy certification as per state and local regulations. Ability to work weekends and holidays is essential.

What will I be doing?

  • Coordinate and deliver training in massage therapies and body treatments, including cleanliness, restocking, product knowledge, and department protocols.
  • Assist in product dispersal and upkeep of product dispensaries.
  • Participate in the interview process for new massage therapists.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to staff regarding performance and quality of work, and communicate disciplinary actions to management as needed.
  • Propose and assist in developing new protocols for the department.
  • Act as a role model in hospitality by demonstrating timely guest pickup, delivering full treatment times, consulting with guests, and anticipating their needs.
  • Assist in recruiting new Massage Therapists.
  • Maintain effective relations with all resort departments.
  • Help plan and prepare for staff meetings.
  • Know all technical procedures, including the Spa reservation system.
  • Ensure Massage Technician Permits are current.
  • Maintain open communication with staff and management.
  • Ensure equipment safety and functionality.
  • Support spa sales for maximizing scheduling, especially during group bookings.
  • Coordinate on-site training for new products.
  • Ensure adequate coverage during call-offs and short-staffed days.
