Job summary

The Terraces of Boise, a HumanGood community, seeks a talented Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef and mentor the kitchen team in Boise, ID. This on-site role emphasizes nutritious, creatively presented meals for residents and guests, with a standard schedule of Tue–Sat 10:30AM–7PM and a $55,000–$65,000 annual salary.

Experience leading kitchen staff, ensuring HACCP-compliant operations, and delivering consistent quality is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3–5 years of culinary or food service experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques, food safety, sanitation practices, HACCP principles, and kitchen operations.
• Ability to supervise and motivate staff in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food, including washing, trimming, cutting, portioning, measuring, mixing, and panning.
• Cooks food including baking, broiling, frying, steaming, braising, boiling, and pressure cooking.
• Orders food, supervises kitchen staff, and prepares menu in absence of Executive Chef.
• Provides meals that are properly cooked, tasty, and attractive meeting high standards for quality and presentation and ensuring dietary needs are met.
• Tastes food before serving and provides attractive garnishes for plates.
• Complies with all food preparation standards and health and safety requirements.
• Operates and cleans all food preparation equipment, including grills, broilers, ovens, steamer tables, mixers, etc.
• Performs other related essential duties as required.
