Job summary

CommonSail Investment Group is seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to assist the Executive Chef in leading the culinary and dining operations across our Michigan facilities. The role emphasizes strong leadership, organization, and hands-on kitchen management to ensure quality and timely service.

You will direct culinary staff, participate in menu planning and cost controls, and ensure meals meet high standards of taste and presentation for residents and families.

• Demonstrated time management skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Executive Chef in hiring, coaching, and performance management for culinary operations.
• Directly supervise all culinary staff.
• Assist in managing and training culinary and dining personnel.
• Supervise culinary staff regarding product quality, portions, cost controls, scheduling, and staffing.
• Ensure food quality through tasting and plate presentation.
• Assist with menu planning, development and ordering of food supplies.
• Prepare and cook meals to order.
• Manage the culinary department in the Executive Chef's absence.
• Assist cooks as needed and support during emergencies or rush periods.
• Strive for 100% resident satisfaction through presentation and taste.
• Engage with residents during meal times to gather feedback.
