Elsevier is seeking a Software Engineering Lead / Tech Lead to guide a high-performing team focused on scholarly publishing technology. You will drive architecture, mentoring, and delivery ownership while ensuring secure, scalable software and robust testing.

The role combines technical direction with people leadership and close collaboration with Product, Design, DevOps, and Architecture to deliver value.

Qualifications

Significant software engineering experience with leadership or delivery responsibility.
Ability to lead technical decision-making across multiple teams.
Proficiency in one or more modern languages: Python, Java, C#, .NET, JavaScript or TypeScript.

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on technical leadership through coding, reviews, and troubleshooting.
Lead design, architecture, development, deployment, and support of complex software solutions.
Define technical direction aligned with product goals and business priorities.
Partner with Product and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Ensure high-quality, secure, scalable, and maintainable software with good documentation.
Promote strong engineering practices including CI/CD and testing.
Lead sprint planning, estimation, and delivery discussions.
