The Purchase team owns our seamless, reliable, and secure cart-to-checkout experience that delights our hobbyists, drives conversions, and supports our company’s growth. As an experienced Software Engineer, you will lead a team of engineers that focus on developing, upgrading, scaling and advancing our cart and purchasing capabilities.

What You Will Accomplish

1. Set architectural direction for the team and broader organization to evolve systems
2. Lead TCGplayer in the migration from a monolithic architecture to domain-driven microservice architecture
3. Develop code that meets requirements and aligns with standard processes, and conduct code reviews to provide expert guidance and ensure code is of the highest quality
4. Create clear, comprehensive documentation and diagrams to further understanding and drive action
5. Develop thorough technical requirements based on business needs via collaboration with product and engineering counterparts
6. Participate in the Principal’s Guild to set technical direction, design patterns, and general standard processes across the Technology organization
7. Mentor talented engineers toward growth in business impact and career development

What You Will Bring

1. A relevant bachelor’s degree and 12 years of relevant industry experience, a relevant master's degree and nine years of relevant industry, or 16 years of practical experience
2. 8+ years of object-oriented software development experience, with experience working with C# and .NET Core
3. Significant experience in high volume production systems design with consideration for high availability, disaster recovery, performance, fault tolerance, and security
4. Experience designing and developing microservices in a cloud-based architecture
5. Expert knowledge of RDBMS technologies (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL stores (Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch)
6. Expert knowledge of event/stream processing mechanisms, specifically Kafka but also AWS SNS/SQS, RabbitMQ, or AzureBus
7. Expert knowledge of APM (Application Performance Monitoring), particularly Scalyr/DataSet for logs and New Relic for dashboards & alerting
8. Excellent verbal and written communication, leadership, and collaboration skills

The base pay range for this position is expected to be between $132,000 and $222,100. The offered salary may vary depending on location, skills, and experience. The total compensation may include bonuses, stock units, and benefits such as medical, financial, and paid time off. Details will be provided upon offer.
